In light of the downfall of koryo dynasty which believed in Buddhism, Joseon dynasty carried out political philosophy that was against Buddhism and respected Confucian after the establishment of Joseon dynasty. At the same time, Joseon dynasty began to establish the dominant position of Zhu Xi theory as the backone of the national ideology confucianism. Thus, Based on the communication and influence of Confucianism in the Korean Peninsula, the thesis focuses on the force, encourage and educational policy which was taken by Joseon Dynasty in order to strengthen women’s chastity view. And then analysis of the performance about Sarim to deepen the concept of female chastity in sixteenth century. On this basis, in—depth study of Joseon Dynasty female’s chastity and martyrdom.The thesis is divided into five chapters and consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction part mainly discusses the purpose and significance of the thesis, the domestic and international research trends, research methods and innovation.The text consists of third parts and is divided into three chapters: from the second chapter to the fourth chapter.The second chapter discusses the legal process about the chastity idea before sixteenth century. In1392, Koryo General Li Chenggui came to power through a military coup and changed the official nation name "Joseon dynasty".Then Joseon dynasty advocated zhu xi’s idealist confucianism in order to achieve the purpose of stable family and country. Among them, Hugu also actively advocated of women’s chastity idea. By limit the women going out, banning remarriage of widows and the implementation of the commendation policy, they gradually strengthened the feminine chastity and made female chastity idea gradually legalize.The third chapter mainly analysis the performance about Sarim to deepen the chastity idea in sixteenth century. The Joseon dynasty every period presented different characteristics in accordance with the dominant Confucianism. With Sarim gradually came to power about the sixteenth century, they began to strengthen paternal as the center of the family system, which also caused a relatively large impact on the family ethics. Even in the female chastity idea, based on "women are inferior to men","the Yin and yang theory", they began to expound on the theory "men were born noble, women were born humble". In daily life, in order to prevent the "difference between men and women", the house was divided into the outer court and the inner court, even a girl under the age of ten would not allowed to go out. Besides that, from the Sarim’s motto,it also paid more attention to emphasizing the woman chastity.The fourth chapter mainly discusses women’s preserving chastity and martyrdom after the death of her husband under the chastity idea in the sixteenth century. Joseon dynasty advocated zhu xi’s idealist confucianism after the establishment of Joseon dynasty, gradually strengthen women’s chastity idea and made the theory "women are inferior to men","Not marry after the husband death" become the spiritual pillar of the Korean women. What’s worse, to the middle period of Joseon dynasty, the more the chastity idea strengthened, the more horrifying chastity and martyrdom behavior became.The final conclusion on the basis of the above study, generally summarized and made a concise overview of the central theme of this article.chastity idea legalization of Joseon Dynasty is a strengthening process, from forteenth to sixteenth century, the trend is very obvious. Through the research of women’s preserving chastity and martyrdom after the death of her husband in the sixteenth century, we shall recognize that the ancient chastity idea helps maintenance the feudal ruling class, but also it harms to the physical and mental health of women.
