In recent years, the intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance are growing concern.Traditional skills are a large part of intangible cultural heritage in China. Different people havedifferent kind of view on how to inherit and protect traditional skills. In this thesis how themaking skills of the Gujinggong Liquor been changed and inherited is examined, on basisof which what factors influencing traditional techniques heritance and evolution arediscussed. Shaping and innovation of some technology relies heavily on the socialcontext. The social condition on which technology exists cannot be neglected when wediscuss inheritance and evolution of technology, and technology development usuallydetermined by social factors. Therefore, we should choose different measures ofprotection for different traditional technique when we formulate programs to protect theintangible cultural heritages. The conclusion in this thesis may be considered as areference theory to current intangible cultural heritages protection.The methods of field investigation and document study are used to examine the nameorigin, cultural connotation, evolution process of making technology, the time ofcompany founded and the scale of the company changing about the Gujinggong Liquor.The making-skill has been innovated three times which are fermentation before ChineseMing dynasty, distillation from the Ming dynasty and low-proof liquor by blending in1980s. How the Gujinggong Liquor making techniques socially shaped is discussed inthe end.From the technical evolution process of the Gujinggong Liquor, it is revealed thattechnology evolve tending to social factors other than its intrinsic ones. That is say thattechnology are socially shaped which influenced by public viewpoint of value, livinghabits or cultural conventions and social institutions. It is recognized that hard drinks are harmful to one’s health so that low-proof drinks will be more and more popularamong the Chinese public. Accordingly, low-proof must be the body product ofGujinggong Liquor.
