A Comparative Study On Chinese And English Network Language From The Theoretical Perspective Of Conceptual Metaphor

The ways of thinking of people are closely related with language. Networklanguage is one kind of very popular and closely relationship with people living.Metaphor plays a vital role in the human daily-life. So to research the concept of thestructure systemically, we must understand it from the perspective of conceptualmetaphor and refine and classify the related expressions. So the ways of thinking ofpeople to things and cognitive activities play a vital role in the understanding the deepmeanings of the network language. As for the network language, most people just seethe literal meaning and ignore its deep meaning. In order to make people have a betterinterpretation and application to the network language, this study overcomes thetraditional metaphor theory which limits the research in the field of rhetoric metaphor.Based on the theory of conceptual metaphor, and according to the Chinese andEnglish network language as the target text. This paper starts from the metaphor ofChinese and English network language of doing some comparative research analysison what is a metaphor, the classification and characteristics of conceptual metaphor.This thesis tries to find out the similarities and differences from these Chinese andEnglish network language underlying the conceptual metaphor theory.Through the analysis of many Chinese and English network language, We canfind out that there exists similarities and differences underlying the metaphor theory.On the one hand, due to the same of the nature of metaphor, and the similar empiricalphilosophy and similar life experiences and with the influence of the Internet andglobalization, which make the Chinese and English network language havesimilarities; Because there is close relationship in the understanding to metaphor andits context, in view of the status of English in society, a lot of Chinese words comefrom English, so there is a corresponding relationship between English and Chinese.On the other hand, due to the cultural traditions, different life experiences and thecharacteristics of the language itself, there are some differences in the choice ofmetaphors.With the fast development of the globalization and the Internet communication,network language are used by a growing number of netizens, with the help of themetaphors, network language are easily understood and accepted by those netizens,which makes people willing to accept new things. Nevertheless, because the networklanguage has been developed so rapidly, this paper is aiming at making comparativeresearch to the phenomenon of network language metaphor, due to the limitations ofunderstanding of network language, and the author does not understand the network language in a deeply way. So there exists many problems to be further research andmake more discovery to the field.
