In recent years, foreign-aid programs have become increasingly important ininternational exchanges. These programs promote friendly diplomatic relations betweenChina and the other developing countries and contribute to a peaceful and harmonious world.In foreign-aid programs, interpreters establish the bridge of exchange and friendship. Thus,the interpretation quality directly influences bilateral or multilateral communication or evenrelationships in the realms such as politics, economy, culture, education, etc.The author was honored to undertake part of the interpretation for “The Seminar forYoung Educators from Developing Countries” and interpret for Professor Sun Hejuan. Basedon the recording and transcript, this thesis identifies and analyzes the deficiencies in theinterpreting and the factors which influence the interpreting quality. Through reflection andreading relevant references, the author puts forward the goals and suggestions forimprovement. Based on the writing mode of “translation with commentary”, the authorretrospects her own interpreting experience. In this way, the author can improveself-awareness of her interpreting practice, which brings guidance and help to the forthcominginterpreting work.This thesis encompasses five chapters. Chapter One analyzes the background, content,difficulties, the lecturer’s language style of the source text or the seminar, and identifies majordifficulties and challenges which the author has encountered in the field interpreting. ChapterTwo mainly introduces some interpreting theories and quality assessment criteria. In ChapterThree, the author evaluates her interpretation and analyzes the major problems illustrated inChapter One and their solutions as well as effect. Chapter Four provides some feasiblesuggestions for the author and other interpreting learners. Chapter Five is the conclusion ofthe whole thesis.
