Jakobson makes a contribution in the factthat he broke the disciplinary boundaries and formed his unique poetic theory oflinguistics of using the method of linguistic semiotics poetics study, which explains theessence of poetry as a language art perfectly. Also his “Grammar of Peotry”is verysepcial. The purpose of this paper is to explore Jacobson’s language semiotics andpoetic theory, including Jakobson’s language semiotics and poetics theoretical basis, connotation and the theory of several aspects.Introduction part, mainly introduces the selected topic significance, researchstatus and research ideas of this paper. The first part is to state Jakobson’s life, writings, academic history andideological spectrum and three sections of his academical ideas. The second part is to mainly illustrates the the influence of Swiss linguistSaussure to Jakobson. Jakobson make inheritance and develepment on manySaussure’s linguistics important concepts, such as, language and parole, signified andsignifier, synchronic and diachronic, sentence paragraph and associativerelations. They also become Jakobson’s important category of semiotics and linguisticsand poetics study, and become theoretical basis of his academical study. The third part is to state that Jakobson pay more attention to the pursuit ofliterariness and put forward structuralism at first. In other words, the two opposingprinciples which makes his linguistics and poetics, semiotics theory connection into adense structure, distinct entity. And discusses structuralism, metaphor and metonymy, finds that metaphor and metonymy is not only a typical pattern of binary oppositionbetween language, also is the basis of two basic modes of operation. The fourth part is to discuss Jakobson’s “Grammar of Peotry”thoery from twolevels of phonetics and grammar. According to the principle of reciprocity, phoneticand grammatical equivalence can cause semantic equivalence, Jakobson appliedlinguistic semiotics research results to poetics study, further enrich his poetic theoryof linguistics. The fifth part mainly discusses the language function and poetic function.Jakobson developed the language function of predecessors’ view, and put forward hisfamous six functions of language. When information turns to itself, it creates a poeticfunction, and poetry is poetry, literature is literature, because poetry occupies the dominant position in the various functions, and the realization of the poetic functionrelies on the projection of the principle of reciprocity. At last, the discussion includes theory characteristics, academic contribution andlimitations,as well as the enlightenment to China’s contemporary constructions ofliterature and art theory.
