Every writer has a cultural—ecological zone that is established by the person’scultural elements in the creative work. Only take such complicated elements seriouslycan people understand the writer’s feature and thought. The military dependents’village writer group is a typical representative class that is influenced by culturaldiversity in Taiwan. As a typical example for the second generation of militarydependents’ village, Zhu Tianwen’s work does not feature the core of traditionalChinese culture but also makes every effort to write in different ways in the wave ofmodernization. So it has clear “modern” and “post-modern” style. People are familiarwith her work because of its gorgeous and decadent style. Researchers pay attentionto her work because of its unique “Taiwan writing” in the diversified culturebackground.Zhu Tianwen’s writing course penetrates through the development of Taiwan inmore than half of the century. She has undergone the process of identifying “Taiwanstatus”, during which she has recorded changes taken place in Taiwan over the pastfew years and written the very appealing Taiwan story.Ever since The City in HotSummer, her creation has transformed from romance novels in youth under thebackground of military dependents’ village to urban novels being set in Taipei. Theseurban novels have thoroughly described the spiritual wasteland of Taipei people at theend of the century. After Desolated Person’s Notes and Wizard Saying, she tended tostand on the “left side” of the spectrum of social development and write “new badstuff” and recall “old good stuff” from a role at a certain distance from themainstream world.Zhu Tianwen describes her “Taiwan writing” as “a not anxious or slow, nottoolong or too short, not tame or disaster encounter against modernism”. If Taiwanwriting experience is considered in the Chinese language culture, it has its uniquereferential meaning. The dissertation is aiming to look for Zhu Tianwen’s Tainwen dentificationprocess and understand Taiwan history and Taiwan people’s living by combingthrough the diversity culture that influences her in order to figure out Taiwan writing’scultural connotation in her work.
