George Bernard Shaw is recognized as the greatest dramatist after Shakespeare in Britain.The number of books and papers in the study of George Bernard Shaw are second only toShakespeare’s number of articles. But because of the lack of understanding of foreign recentresearch, George Bernard Shaw’s study is out of touch with the international state. Forresearch in the real sense after90s of the20thcentury, as the ideological colors desalinationand research methods in the field of literary studies updated gradually, scholars have donemore research on of feminist performance and the creation theory of evolution. Comparedwith Shakespeare, George Bernard Shaw’s story is simpler and more complex theory, veryextreme point of view, which is very easy to cause polarization understanding of GeorgeBernard Shaw’s plays.In his coverall philosophy frame, Hegel arranges art in a. important position. And also inthe philosophy of art, depending on the keen interest and the deep-seated accomplishment ofdramatic theory to drama, inheriting history, combining with reality, Hegel has finished thedramatic aesthetics creation which can reflect the historical background and the classbackground. The dramas of George Bernard Shaw has philosophy connotation to create theindependent person and the dramatic aesthetics of Hegel is basic on philosophy. Usingdramatic aesthetic theory of Hegel to analyze Pygmalion may let us better understand thisdrama and better understand Shaw.Dramas are centre on the conflicts. The paper tries to use the dramatic aesthetics theory ofHegel to analyze the conflicts in Pygmalion. Paper is divided into six chapters. The firstchapter is introduction dividing into three parts: a brief introduction to George Bernard Shawand Pygmalion; literature review; theme statement. The second chapter is theoreticalfoundation. Due to the need for paper, it is pointed introduction to the dramatic aesthetictheory of Hegel. First to introduce the theoretical origin and philosophical foundation of thedramatic aesthetic theory of Hegel; and then to introduce the framework of the dramaticaesthetics theory of Hegel, including the playwriting, the dramatic typical theory and thedramatic conflict theory.The third and fourth chapters are analyzing Pygmalion by dramatic aesthetic theory ofHegel. Different aims and different actions of person’s will cause conflicts’ appearance, anddifferent personal characters will cause the different aims and different actions, so beforeanalyzing conflicts, I will use Hegel’s typical character theory to give the detailed analysis ofcharacters which conflicts involves in Pygmalion. And then depending on Hegel’s dramaticconflict theory, according to the personal characters, I will analyze the conflicts in Pygmalion. In the main body of paper, relying on the personality theory of dramatic typical theory in thedramatic aesthetic theory of Hegel, I will first to analyze the personality that is involved in theconflicts in Pygmalion, including Eliza, Higgins, Pickering, and Mr. Doolittle, Mrs. Higgins,Mrs. Pearce, and the Hills. And then depending on the personality to analyze the conflicts inPygmalion, it is including the conflict between Eliza and Higgins, Pickering; the conflictamong Mr. Doolittle, Higgins and Eliza; the conflict between Mrs. Higgins and Higgins,Pickering; the conflict among Mrs. Pearce, Higgins and Eliza; and the conflict among theHills and Eliza. The fifth chapter is the existing meaning in Pygmalion. From Pygmalion tosee the world view of Jorge Bernard Shaw, and then from the world view of Jorge BernardShaw to Pygmalion, to analyze its existing meaning, including the love view existing inPygmalion and the practical significance existing in Pygmalion. The last chapter is conclusionto summarize full paper.Pygmalion has become one of the most outstanding works of Shaw. Pygmalion staged alsovery well. It can withstand the test of time, becoming classic in the history of the drama. UseHegel dramatic aesthetic theory analysis Pygmalion, for dramatic itself, it makes a reasonableanalysis to essentially understand this work, and to dialysis this work, enabling more accurateand more in-depth understanding of the practical significance of this work.
