The impressive uprising of Golden elixir Taoism broke out in Jehol area in1891. Itcovered large regions including four counties, namely, Chaoyang, Jianchang, Pingquanand Chifeng, and even spread to Zhili and Mukden provinces. This uprising wascharacterized by short period, large scale and thousands upon thousands participants. Theuprising army destroyed government offices, burn down churches and Mongoliamaharaja mansions. Therefore, it gave a heavy blow to the ruler of Qing Dynasty, foreignaggression power and Mongolia maharajas. Taking the Golden elixir Taoism as thebreakthrough point, this thesis introduces the establishment of Golden elixir Taoism andthe conflicts causing the great uprising.This paper is consisted of three parts, specific content as follows:The first part of this thesis mainly presents the origin of the Golden elixir Taoism,such as the circumstances of its establishment and the relationship between this uprisingand the background of this uprising. There is special social environment. This isofficials’ corruption and natural disasters. The contradictions between Han people andMongolia people caused hatred between them and at last they became enemies and theinvasion of foreign churches. Then eventually Taoism arises at the historic moment.The second part introduces the uprising of Golden elixir Taoism. The BeiZimansion was firstly attacked and then this uprising was spread to the four counties ofChangyang, Jianchan, Pingquan and Chifeng. And at last it was rapidly crushed by thearmy of Qing Dynasty. It failed in the end.The third part of this thesis explores some issues about the uprising of the Goldenelixir Taoism, Mainly expounds the uprising of Golden elixir Taoism in some questionsworth thinking about. First of all, This is abut the reasons for the failure of the uprisingquickly; Second, This is abut the question of foreigner "evil" and then, Golden elixirTaoism, Li-ism and Catholic conflict; Once again, The debate about the properties of theuprising of Golden elixir Taoism; Finally, The systematic conclusion is also presented.
