Brief Discussion On The Image In The Contemporary Oil Painting In The Value Creation

In this visual era, various images, which are filled with great amount of information, have squeezed into our lives. At the same time, images influence contemporary Chinese art painting to some extent. The method of taking images as reference has been widely used in the process of art creating. Of course, while this method introduces diversity in painting styles and novel idea of creating, it brings about a little malpractice as well. By explaining images, analyzing advantage and disadvantage of images in painting, and analyzing those successful cases of images’ usage made by the painters, this article is to show the value of images in contemporary oil painting.This article is divided into four sections. The first one is to indicate the existence of phenomenon that images are used as reference, introduce different schools and classifications of it. The second part is to analyze advantage and disadvantage of this phenomenon, arouse attention among painters to suitable and effective application of images in oil painting, and study this art resource in depth. The third section is to show the value and meaning of images reflecting in creating. The last part is to discuss original intention in selecting painting material and technique of expression, the relation between images and art creating, the way in which painter can achieve best effect.
