Chinese ink painting has a long history. A large number of fantastic creatures and their creators arevery famous even at the present day. Since Tang and Song Dynasty, the ink painting has developed formany years and rose at the top of whole Chinese ink painting history just then. But that gold age didn’t lastfor a while. It began to wither day by day. Till the end of Qing it was struck by the West Art and Chinabecame a colony at the same time. The different skills and decorating ways in painting figures from westernpainters were killing Chinese old ways, for the traditional Chinese painting skills were not good atdecorating details. Though, the Chinese painters made changes and that set up new faces of painting. Thisessay tries to draw a tree of Chinese ink painting culture’s development and discover the special aestheticstandard of Chinese ink painting by researching the recourse of traditional culture environment and thespecial expressing ways. And foretell where Chinese ink painting ways will go in the future.This article contains four parts. The1st one simply remarks the recourses and developing histories ofChinese ink painting from each angle of contents, skills, surroundings and humanity. Identify the positionof ink figure painting’s in the whole Chinese painting history. The2nd part says ways of using decorativeelements are not in the same in each period. And tells how Chinese ink painting grew up by makingchanges of skills and the above-mentioned stuff. The3rd part, making a detailed analysis of decorativeelements objectively, which includes set off the atmosphere, enriching pics, intensifying figures andexpressing power and balance. The4th part focus on painters in the new age, whose expressing ways andskills are diversified by analyzing characteristics of and the variation of Aesthetic Chinese ink painting andthey’re chasing more changes and new techniques. It’s supported by analysis, though varies by degree or technique, Chinese brush painting showsdecorative expression at each stage of its development. In1st chapter, the essay defines the important roleof Chinese Brush figure painting in the whole Chinese painting system and summaries the historical stagesof its development by analyzing its contents, techniques, social contemporary background. In2ndchapter, the essay explores the various applications of Chinese brush painting’s decorative expression ateach development stages. In3rd chapter, by analyzing the application of decorative techniques betweenpoints and lines in individual works, the efforts of early modern Chinese artists can be seen as such: tocombine Chinese traditional esthetics with western techniques. In4th chapter, it illustrates the variety oftechniques and applications under the efforts of contemporary Chinese artists in the new era, in order torepresent this unique arts to the whole world and a new height of achievements.From the narcissism to the blending of western influence, till the mature of aesthetics. ContemporaryChinese brush figure painting presents a great variety and flourishing liveliness. This essay and concludesthe development of the application of decorative expression techniques in Chinese brush paintings byanalyzing each representative works. and also value each significance objectively.Chinese brush figure painting holds profound future prospective, There are still great amount of effortsto be made by us in order to carry its legacy of decorating expression with modern approaches to a new era.
