As a Chinese traditional music in the Han dynasty, trumpet music is ainstrumental concert form which is mainly based on percussion instrument drum andwind instrument pipe, fife, thrill, Angle,sometimes accompanying by singing.Trumpet music is used in military, ceremonial and court treat when adopted by thecourt.The research object of this paper is the non-musical attribute of the wind anddrum music, and its research purpose lies in proving and illustrating the non-musicalattribute of the wind and drum music, varying its research perspective as well asrevealing its close relationship with human society. Different from studying theontology of music, which just start from the musical perspective, this paper aims atstudying the non-musical attribute of the wind and drum music and analyzing itsrelationship with human society.As a kind of court music, trumpet music possesses four non-musicalproperties,which includes enlarging military prowess, spreading emperor’sreputation, showing splendid status, and granting grace.These properties belong to apart of trumpet music and exist obviously in its performance activities.The existence of non-musical properties is beyond doubt. In ancient times, theruling class not only get the satisfaction of aesthetic and entertaining requirementfrom the trumpet music, but also take advantage of the non-musical properties ingoverning country. During the pre-Qin period, the non-musical properties of music artis very abstract and blur.With the type of musical performance varying after the Handynasty, the phenomenon of non-musical properties began to appear in the specificart of music, which makes the non-musical properties of music more distinct andspecific.
