Ever since the adoption of reform and opening-up, the China’s globalization has increased. Especially, PRC’s accession to the WTO, more business sectors are open to the multinationals. Meanwhile, the Chinese companies also engage in overseas competition and acquisition. Both multinationals and Chinese companies can compete in the same stage. All these developments enable China to have ever extensive and profound business relationship with the rest of the world. China’s economy distinctive development represents a profound meaning, that is, it needs more clear and correct negotiation and understanding especially in this business world. Moreover, business news reports bear such responsibilities and become the key channel to negotiate and understand. However, few research results are in the business discourse in the linguistics. At last decade of the last century, the conceptual metaphor had been introduced into our country, which was closely connected and supplemented with other subjects. Therefore, it contributes to acquire new prospective to the research on the business English discourse. The significant numbers of conceptual metaphors have been used in the business English discourse, which helps to explain vividly the status quo of business society. It can also contribute to the common people to get the heart of business knowledge.This paper, to begin with, puts priority on the analysis of basic definition, working mechanism, key features, basic types of the conceptual metaphors and conclusion of previous studies of conceptual metaphors in the business English discourse. Based on the materials of business English discourse, this paper has concluded the distinctive features of application of conceptual metaphors in the business English discourse. Such as:more conceptual metaphors are in one business English discourse, the person as main source domain, the human emotions and attitudes are mapped onto the business English discourse and human relationships reflected onto the interests of business activities. Furthermore, it emphasizes on analysis of Nida’s and Newmark’s translation theory, and their research results on conceptual metaphors in business English discourse. Based on the analysis of typical mistranslations of conceptual metaphors in business English discourse, this paper has concluded the strategies of translation of conceptual metaphors in business English discourse. Finally, major functions of conceptual metaphors in business English discourse have been concluded, which has given like these:to promote cultural phenomenon, formulation and implementation of certain economic policies, to give the tips for cross-cultural, cross-national business communication and tips for culture teaching.This paper views conceptual metaphor in the business English discourse as study subject, combined of translation theory, it discusses on the conceptual metaphor translation in business English discourse. It helps this paper more orientated. Therefore, it has a strong practical significance. Furthermore, it is beneficial to business workers as the valuable reference for their work. Meanwhile, we should attach great importance to the theoretical value of this article. The research on this subject is able to offer new perspective and new idea for linguistics research in business English discourse, and then promote its theoretical height. As a new subject, the study of the conceptual metaphor in business English discourse remains to be explored further in many aspects.
