Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914), is one of the founders of modern semiotics.He is the founder of American pragmatism, is outstanding in the scientific communityat the same time, he is proficient in philosophy, logic, semiotics, linguistics, such asthe humanities, and proficient in reconnaissance, metrology, optical spectroscopy,such as natural science, he is a rare talent across the board, and is regarded as thegreatest American philosopher. However Peirce in living, thought is not accepted bymost of the native American philosopher, until the last century20s, HarvardUniversity press, according to his manuscripts and thesis, finishing editing andpublished his "corpus" before six rolls, because he has no monograph published, a lotof thought and theory through his papers, and he can find in his speech at theuniversity of the manuscript. In the1970s, Peirce’s semiotics studies become a trendin the United States, to Peirce notes or the interpretation of the original texts and playto become today’s most American characteristics of semiotics. Peirce’s semioticstheory influence scope expanding gradually, he not only affects the20th centurywestern semiotics and linguistics, also affected the development of the westernaesthetics in the20th century, at the same time his theory of today’s media culturalresearch, postmodernism symbols has injected new vitality, the advantages of histheory has been found and applied to the current cultural study, his thoughts broughtto the attention of the scholars at home and abroad. The purpose of this paper is baseon Peirce’s semiotics research, theory of Peirce semiotics thoughts formed in thefoundation, the basic theory of semiotics and pioneering, the20th century westernSemi logy and aesthetic effects, the influence of the western aesthetics in the20thcentury from several aspects such as research, to see the beauty of the semiotic theoryand the research significance. Secondly, Peirce’s semiotics, the most outstanding contribution is symbolclassification theory and introducing the concept of "explanation". His symbolclassification system is complex, one of the most famous is the most widely in thepractical application is the symbol of the rule of thirds or the symbol refers to theprocess as a symbol, objects, and explained the unity of the three. The chapter alsodiscusses the symbolic meaning of the generation process, which leads to the symbolof "infinite righteousness" concept.Thirdly, Peirce’s semiotics theory, enormous influence on20th century westernsemiotics and linguistics. He two of the20th century leader had a significant impacton language learning. One is Chomsky, existing studies have shown that Chomskyabout gift of children’s language acquisition theory originates from Peirce’s backbecause of logical thinking. Another is Maurice, he divides into the semiotic languageform, semantics and pragmatics, is inspired by Peirce symbols three points method.Fourth, Peirce semiotics theory as the linguistic turn of the20th century westernaesthetics and culture research to accumulate the power, and in his semiotics theoryreflects the postmodern thoughts, become one of the thoughts origin ofpostmodernism.Finally, in the conclusion part introduces the theory of Peirce semiotics theorycharacteristic and academic characteristics, and illustrates the contemporarysignificance of Peirce semiotic theory. Peirce’s theory of aesthetics and literary theoryhas important enlightenment significance nowadays. And semiotics as a newtheoretical perspective and research methods, provides reference for studyingcontemporary literary phenomenon.
