Field Investigation And Research On Fangshan Drum

Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, with outstanding people and deep culturalheritage, gestates its own folk dance. Fangshan Drum, the Nanjing comprehensive folk dancewhich still activating nowadays, has been listed as the Intangible Cultural Heritage in JiangsuProvince. Fangshan Drum is the result of the accumulation, development, change and enrichmentof Chinese traditional music, dance and the simple folk custom since Ming Dynasty. This topic isbased on the accumulated knowledge of dance and the music of gongs and drums, and willstarting from the level of configuration of the music and dance of Fangshan Drum. By collectingthe information of Fangshan Drum, the author will record, reorganize and research on its music,dance and transition of its social functions. The author will reveal its rhythm structure, the artisticcharacteristics of its basic movements and styles. The author hopes by doing these to enrich hisvision of cultural and contribute his own strength to research on Chinese folk dance.
