Word Sense Disambiguation And Attribute Features Analysis Of English Preposition On By Formal Concept Analysis

In accordance with the relating semantic, syntactic features and computer technology,word sense disambiguation is a method for the researchers to identify the correct meaningof the research word in a specific context. Due to its scientificity, this method is significantin determining the actual meaning of a ploysemy in certain context and has been widelyemployed in natural language processing. The study of attribute features is to analyze andconclude the relevance and independence of these attributes, find the common attributesand independent attributes, with the purpose of describing the sense of a polysemy in acomprehensive way. This study provides a new perspective to distinguish and understandthe different senses of a ploysemy.Based on Formal Concept Analysis tool and corpus-based approach, this paper plansto study word sense disambiguation and attribute features of English high-frequencyword-preposition on. The study establishes a350000corpus in the first place as theresearch foundation, which covers the language data of academic paper, news report,speech, interview, movie subtitle, law and literature evenly and in which preposition onappears2114times. According to the actual usage of on,14linguistic and syntacticfeatures are extracted for word sense disambiguation. Compared with the previousresearches, the rate of correct disambiguation has reached95%through the employment ofFormal Concept Analysis method, which is a significant improvement. The attributefeatures of preposition on are also analyzed. It is noted that the unique attribute of thecongeneric objects and the unique composite attributes of the congeneric objects play animportant part in the classification of the three senses of preposition on and a new ruleextraction method is introduced on this basis. Compared with the previous rule extractionmethod, the new method owns advantages in the aspect of re-examination accuracy, ruleextraction procedure and the applied rules, which proves the effectiveness and thefeasibility of this new rule extraction method.On the basis of Formal Concept Analysis tool, the research of word sensedisambiguation and attribute features of English preposition on broadens the horizon of natural language word sense disambiguation research and provides theoretical andpractical foundation for further research in the field of preposition word sensedisambiguation...
