The eight-part essay writing was so popular in Ming and Qing dynasty thatinfluenced the essay evaluation. It has four steps in the eight-part essay writingincluding opening, developing, changing and concluding. Because of the four steps,the essay context can be clear. In the literary interpretation, conclude the using way ofwords, divide the context’s paragraph are two popular aspects about evaluation ineight-part essay’s way.As a usual rule, the four steps can be used in any essay style’s writing, includingpoem and ancient prose. But poem needs to build the artistic conception and theancient prose pursuit the conception can not be expressed easy by rules. They aredifferent from the eight part essay which pays much more attention on clear rules. Theliterature written by Qu Yuan was treated as an essay instead of poem in the view ofJiang Ji. The reason why we say the comment of Qu Yuan’s work in Shan DaiPavilion is the way about eight-part essay evaluation comes from many aspects. First,it is famous that evaluate artistic essay using eight-part essay rule in Ming and Qingdynasty. Second, Jiang Ji was familiar to the literature which comments on the wayabout eight-part essay evaluation. At last, influenced by his political exam experience,Jiang Ji knows how to write eight part essay.Paying attention on the whole essay, Jiang Ji explained the meaning of wordsclearly. To the structure of Qu Yuan’s work, on one side Jiang Ji solved the repeatedquestion in Li Sao firstly and then divided its level in order to tell us the structure ofthe essay. On the other side, he concluded the meaning of the paragraph and found theconnection between sections to explain Tian Wen is a sequenced essay. At last, to thestructure of Qu Yuan’s essay, Jiang Ji concluded two characteristics is that unique andorderliness. It was easy to be blamed if use eight-part essay’s evaluation way in books.The phenomenon rooted on many reasons, concluding some mistakes made by writersand the critic’s subjective evaluation. The advantages of eight-part essay’s evaluationdepended on the writer’s whether has an objective annotation attitude or not. In aword, the eight-part essay’s evaluation of Jiang Ji was a flexible choice instead ofconstrained annotation. So it was worth of trusted on the whole.
