Aeschines was an outstanding statesman and orator in ancient Athens. Inthe context of the prevailing of public speeches, Aeschines became one of themost important decision-makers for Athenian policy due to his rhetorical skillsand political talents. He defeated Demosthenes, another famous orator in Athens,twice. Although Aeschines didn’t win the last charge against Demosthenes, hisspeeches and policy made considerate influence on Athenian demos.Aeschines is studied comprehensively and systematically from three partsin the text. In the first part states the relation between Athenian orators andAthenian society and Aeschines’ family background. In the second partexpounds the political experience about Aeschines from entering politics to thepolicy shift about Macedonia and the withdrawing from political circles. In thethird part, through the analysis of Aeschines’ speeches, explores the ups anddowns of his political career and the change of his political views. The paperaims to rebuild the image of Aeschines and reflect the orators’ influence on theAthenian society through the analysis of his experience and speeches.
