The Analysis Of The Shadow Images In Li Po’s Poems

Image is one of the innovative concepts in the history of Chinese Poem, also one of basiccomponents for the poem as well as one important research target. There are different images in theChinese ancient poems, and one of which is the image of shadow. Li Po, as one of the most famouspoets in the Tang Dynasty, also created certain amount of shadow images in his poems. This paperwill consolidate all the Li Po’s poems with shadow image and analyze its artistic characteristics,and the aesthetic connotation, then further discuss the loneliness and affection of Li Po reflected bythe Shadow Image. The paper mainly focuses on the following four parts. First, trace thedevelopment of the image and combing up-to-date research for images in Li Po’s poem. Image isan important concept and its connotation is under constantly development, tracing the root of theimage can better understand it. And after combing the current research, it is found that no matureresearch has been conducted for the Shadow Image for Li Po’s poet. Second, analyze theconsolidated poems which include Shadow image. Based on the combed research and the tracedroot, and then the characteristics of verb and noun adjacent to the Shadow in the poem are analyzed,and the dynamic beauty and modal beauty of those verbs and nouns are analyzed. Third, analyze LiPo’s poem including Shadow Image. After the analysis for the consolidated poem, it is found thatthere are major two categories, namely, poetry about immortals and scenic poem. For both ofwhich shadow image plays a very important role. In the former, through shadow image, Li Pomainly expresses his ideal to live in seclusion after his dream completely broke up. But in the later,he creates the atmosphere full of natural vitality and quiet. Finally, discuss the Lonely Shadow inLi Po’s poem. The image of lonely shadow, Facing Shadow appears many times in Li Po’s poems,which reflected Li Po’s personal life experience and affection, discovering the lonelinessconsciousness of Li Po. The loneliness reflects in the two aspects, first, Self-conceit and no soul-mate can be found, second, time passes too quickly without realizing personal dream.
