Mythologies are originated from the ancient beliefs about the structure of nature and society. They are a basic source of history and culture of every nation and they reflect the ancient people’s lives, thoughts, fears, wishes, as well as the procedure of acknowledgement and cognition. In other words, ancient people used myths to recognize and explain the world around them. Creation myths are the most common form of myth found throughout human culture. A creation myth is a symbolic narrative of how the world began and how people first came to inhabit it. All creation myths speak to deeply meaningful questions held by the society that shares them, revealing their central worldview.Chinese and Greek are two of the world’s oldest civilizations and their creation myths reflect the ancient people’s lives and their procedure of self-cognition. Both ancient nations have unique myths that over thousands of years of history have deeply influenced many other cultures. This paper through the comparative analysis of the similarities and differences between ancient Greek and Chinese creation myths aims to give a perspective insight to the culture of these two nations and how they searched for identity and significance of their position in the world.
