English is the most widely used language in the world, which is important for China to to adapt to the global economy. Therefore, how to reform English classes of non-English major college students to keep pace with the times has become an urgent problem. Native English teacher can help students avoid Chinese thinking model and motivate their enthusiasm for English study. However, it is a double-edged sword to hire a foreign language teacher in an university. It is good for students’English study when rationally used, Or it may be a waste of educational fund and a hindrance for students to improving English. Therefore, A self-designed questionnaire is conducted with300students from6majors of3universities in Dalian, whose English are taught by foreign teachers for collecting data. There are7aspects in the questionnaire, which are personal traits, instructional objectives, teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching results, evaluation and students’ classroom performance. And a simple interview is carried out between these students. In order to solve questions reflected in the questionnaire, an interview is also carried out with3foreign teachers from2of these3universities. According to the results of the survey, fine first impression easy to be accepted by students, fully taking care of students self-esteem, relax classroom atmosphere and laying stress on students’ daily classroom performance are4advantages for native English speakers teaching non-English major college students, which is worthy to be learned by Chinese English teachers. There are still problems, such as students doubting teachers’ qualification, teacher knowing little about students, ambiguous teaching objectives, uninterested teaching contents and insufficient teacher-student interaction. The problems come from foreign teachers, the school administration department and students, which needs coordination from the three aspects. In the end of the paper, five advices is given according to humanistic theory, the second language acquisition theory, and the theory of adult education.
