Interpersonal self-support is an indigenous Chinese personality concept. It consists of interpersonal independence, the tendency and ability to deal with interpersonal activity or problems independently, interpersonal initiative, the tendency to initiate affiliations with other individuals, interpersonal responsibility, the tendency to be faithful and truthful to others, interpersonal flexibility, the tendency to deal with interpersonal events contingently and flexibly, and interpersonal openness, the tendency to accept other individuals positively. Interpersonal self-support represents the ideal interpersonal personality that helps individuals deal with interpersonal problems and develop and maintain the harmonic and appropriate social relationship required in China’s collectivistic and interdependent culture. It was also assumed to be a protective personality factor of mental health and was found to be negative related to psychosomatic symptoms.Most of the studies on attention bias concentrate on negative mind, and the positive traits are rare, especially on self-support this Chinese concepts. This research consist of two part, attention bias on students in high or low interpersonal self-support, and this attention bias changed under stress. Study1is using spatial cueing task to examine attention bias, while Study2Dot-probe paradigm.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1) In the spatial cueing task, under non-stress condition, high interpersonal self-supporting individuals avoid attention to positive interpersonal related words, low interpersonal self-supporting individuals avoid attention to both positive interpersonal related words and negative interpersonal related words. Under stress condition, both high and low interpersonal self-supporting individuals are only avoid attention to positive interpersonal related words.(2) In the Dot-probe paradigm,under non-stress condition, there is no attentional bias to interpersonal related words on both high and low interpersonal self-supporting individuals. Under stress condition, high interpersonal self-supporting individuals avoid attention to the negative words.There are tiny integrates affect the conclusion of experiments, and in the end author talk about something of the study in psychotherapy area applying.
