| Technical translation covers the translation of many kinds of specialized texts andthese texts involve plenty of subject knowledge and relevant terminologies. Thus thetranslation of technical texts requires technical translators not only master the generaltranslation skills, but understand knowledge from various specialized fields. However,such ideal technical translators are very scanty in today’s China. Most technical texts aretranslated by those who do not have enough relevant background knowledge. Inconsequence, low-quality technical translation becomes a commonplace. This thesisintends to analyze in which way the translators’ lacking of subject knowledge couldcompromise the translation quality in a technical translation project, and then to discusshow to cope with this problem. |
