The Application Of The Geographical Features Of The Emblem Design Elements

It has been a hundred years of history so far since the first emblem of the sports meetingappeared in the world. The emblem as a non-verbal, graphic symbols, is not only to conveythe sport spirit which are unity, friendship, progress to the world, but also to show the uniquecharacters of geography, history and cultural traditions of the host country and city. In themodern emblem design process, if we use the local geographical features properly, expressthe information accurately that we want to convey, we will creat and convey more culturaland national values consequently, which are the key issues,we want to approach.This paper gives the starting point from the geographical features of the emblem designelements, having the comprehensive contrast of the emblem design developing process, doingthe analysis on the impact and effect caused by the geographical features of the host city,researching the practical application and values of the geographical features in the emblemdesign process. Through the analysis of the constituent elements, such as, the design features,creative methods, graphics performance, use of color of the previous emblem, we explore theapplication and reflect of different design techniques of the geographical features orientedtoday’s emblem design elements. So the viewer can better understand and interpret the realmeaning of the geographical features of the emblem design elements.With the increasing of the sporting events, the type and quantity of the emblem isgrowing as well.Emblem has become an important category in contemporary design. Inaddition, as the majorities are in fond of that, the emblem design development has alreadybeing pushed to a new era. Using the image of the geographical characteristics of the emblemelements, combining the traditional and modern style harmoniously, which not only reflectthe traditional culture and national spirit of the host country or the host city, but also promotethe cultural communication, exchange and the transfer of the sport spirit, meanwhilepromoting the economic development of the host, boosting urban construction.In the international background, it is necessary to pay attention to grasp the problem ofnational character and international recognition of the emblem design elements. We shouldmanifest the traditional characteristics rather than simply use. That is a reasonable use forreference and perfectly beyond. Through the analysis and research of the geographicalfeatures of the emblem design elements, designers must pay more attention to the practiceapplication of the geographical features of the emblem.
