A Discussion About The Vision Commonality

Sculpture and painting, as the two most representative plastic arts, have their own characteristics and significant differences in creation of media material, technique and spatial dimensions, which can’t be a gap in their shape same artistic image and the similar visual experience. On the contrary, the similar or even same visual feeling could be caught in some representative, excellent sculptures and paintings, and the common aesthetic experience can still flow between different art categories. Proposing a visual commonality, the visual basis exists in different art fields or categories, makes the research on this issue has the significance.Selecting the representative works of Giacometti and Schiele, the typical sculptor and artist in the early20th century, this article compares the two works seriously by the methods of refine silhouette type, contour extraction, line texture extraction and the analysis of the neurotic traits, and summarizes the spin, the deformation of expression and visual forms in two works. It concludes that the sculpture and painting owns a similar visual form, and reaches the similar audience’s visual feeling and spiritual experience. This is an important realistic foundation of the visual commonality in different art fields.As known, there are many factors influencing the artist style formed. Behind of similar visual style in Giacometti and Schiller works, the similar time environment and lofty traditional tragedy of western aesthetics form the same artistic style in different art categories in addition to the similar personal experience, etc. As a means of expressing feelings, fine arts finally achieved the visual commonality after overcoming the differences technique in boundary.On the basis of detailed analysis and exploration Giacometti&Schiller’s art and creation motive, expanding the comparing scope to other artists at the same period, this paper summarizes the different choices in art road and artistic style of the artist in the era of the common context, and discusses the conditions and application scope of the visual commonality in order to guide my own sculpture art creation practice.
