This is a project report on the translation of Annuals of Anhui Huangmei Opera Troupe (1953-2003), which was written by two artists of Huangmei Opera, Ding Shiping and Yang Qingsheng. The excerpts of this report are from Chapter2"The Content of Professional Work" and Chapter8"The Chronicle of Events from1953to2003". Translation on Annuals of Anhui Huangmei Opera Troupe is conducted to spread and promote the culture of Huangmei Opera, let more readers worldwide know Huangmei Opera and its development, and make efforts to spread the culture and promote exchanges on Huangmei Opera.Main problems in this translation project lie in how to best translate traditional Chinese opera terms and opera names. During the preparation, much background information is viewed and studied to understand the terms and plays precisely through reading texts and webpages and consulting experts. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory and translation strategies, translation becomes more flexible and understandable.The translation of Annuals of Anhui Huangmei Opera Troupe asks translators to be true to the original text, and pay attention to the skopos (purposes) of translation. Translators should provide the target language reader text information not only faithful to but also coherent with the original text, and let them get the inside cultural information through the lexical information as much as possible.This report is divided into four main parts:Part One is an introduction where the background, origin, significance and components of the translation project are described. Part Two is the introduction of the background, the authors, the version and main contents of the source text. Part Three is about quality control, including the difficulties encountered and the various translation strategies adopted to settle those problems under the guidance of Skopos Theory. Part Four is a conclusion of the enlightenments and lessons from the translation and problems to be solved in the future. Among these four parts, the key part is Part Three.
