This Paper is basic on the Close Reading and mainly using the method of Ethical Literary Criticism to reinterpretation the classic text:Lord of the Flies of William Golding. A great number of researchers believe that this work expresses the thinking of "Humanity is Evil". But, on the view of Ethical Literary Criticism, humanity is a good thing, more advanced than the bestiality, which represents human instinct. From my point of view:Golding is not showing that humanity is evil, actually, Golding show us a scene in an especial environment, the Animal Factor activated by Irrational Will and taken the place of Human Factor, which make the Free Will released entirely. Consequently, to meet the fundamental needs of living, children in the island lost their civilized order, they have to undergo degeneration and live under The Law of the Jungle. This paper is divided into three parts, the analysis revolve mainly around the primary problem, that is, to behavior as a human or a beast? The first part mainly analyzes the civilized and harmonious life of children at first is because of the human factor have empire over animal factor. The second part focuses on the confrontation of human factor and animal factor, the fundamental needs of living come as the most important target of all, even superior to the target of be saved. The third part is manly explains how does the animal factor totally replace the human factor and let the law of the jungle rule the desert island.Overall, this paper is on the premise of making clear the concept of humanity, from the perspective of ethical literary criticism to reinterpretation the ethical value in Lord of the Flies. And then analyze the reason why human factor and animal factor vary continuously with the changes of the environment, meanwhile, find the powerful moral warning that Golding would like to tell the world. Finally, the serial of analysis will very profitable in diminishing the "branding" interpretation and the symbolized pessimism moralist title on William Golding.
