This is a translation report for translating chapter15and chapter18of LowCarbon Development: Key Issues. The report briefly introduces relevantinformation about the original text and analyzes the main features of the text andthe language. Main difficulties for the translating have been pointed out in thereport. Based on case study, it analyzes how these chapters were translated underthe guidance of Eugene A.Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory. The original textwas written for teaching and reference. When translating this type of text, oneshould pay more attention to the accuracy of information and the functionalequivalence, trying to achieve the equivalence of vocabulary, sentence, style, bothlexical information and cultural information. Ultimately, translation serves thereader. It should cause the same response of its reader as the reader of the originaltext. The report also presents the using of several translation methods, whichapproaches the translation text towards the original one to meet the reader’s needs.The report consists of four chapters: chapter one is a brief introduction of thetranslation project; chapter two is an analysis of the original text; chapter threebrings out the guidance theory and requirement of the translation, also analyzes thedifficulties in translating and translation methods with examples; chapter fourdraws a conclusion of the experiences and lessons learned from the translationpractice.
