Euphemism is a proper language pattern which people created in social communication in order to make the communication effective. It plays an important role in social communication.lt is inevitable that some topics which may cause fear, embarrassment and other negative associations are encountered in people’s daily communication or in their expression of feelings. As a result, people need to convey their ideas in other ways--that is euphemism.With the increasingly frequent cross-cultural communication, euphemism translation is bound to more and more important. Owing to cultural and customary factors, each society or nation has its own taboos; even the same tabooed subjects have different euphemistic expressions because there are cultural and linguistic gaps between the two languages, creating barriers for euphemism translation.In recent years, euphemism has attracted wide attention of scholars in the east and west, both at home and abroad for its research has made encouraging progress, but according to a lot of research and analysis, the research of euphemism still couldn’t escape the lexical category limitation. On the theoretical research and translation practice, the study of euphemism translation is less than satisfactory, it profoundly affected the process of euphemism translation work, because of this, this article will take the Big Bang Theory as an example, making the in-depth exploration on the translation of euphemism. This drama was talking about very different funny stories of life between four otaku scientists and a beauty neighbor. This thesis takes many examples of euphemism translation in the play to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth analysis with Skopos theory as the guiding theory and translation criteria, and uses the five kinds of translation approaches to interpret. Through analyzing case of translation in the Big Bang Theory, the author thinks that in the translation of euphemisms, the theory of Skopos is a very effective approach, translators should adopt appropriate translation approaches to meet the requirement of the translation purpose. Through analyzing this case, the author hopes to make some contribution to the translation of euphemism in American series.
