A Research On Facial-makeup Modeling And Color Of Shehuo In Longzhou

Facial-makeup for Shehuo (festive activity) in the county of Longzhou,as a highly formalized symbol system, vividly portrays the image features ofcharacters and their personalities with its stylized make-up spectral type,bright and strong color, strange exaggerated decoration, and its plain and heavyconnotation. Among the facial-makeups with their own images’ praise andcontempt, such as the impartial filial piety characters with the dignityappearance, the raped and wicked with the vicious and ugly images, none of themare not flexibly exhibited through the artists’ various techniques of kneading,hook, wipe, and break. Facial-makeup, on the basis of other arts’ advantagesand strengths, constitutes its own unique form in Chinese arts.“Ink green andred, the aspect in the face”, the art of facial makeup, not only carries a deepand great cultural atmosphere, but also conveys the unique charm of the ancientChinese civilization.The study on SheHuo facial-makeup is first placed on the backgroundof Chinese traditional national culture. Based on the principles of SheHuofacial-makeup modeling, its color features and the connotations of its meaning,by the application of the rules of both fine arts and folklore arts and referenceto the latest research achievements from cultural anthropology, philosophy,aesthetics, history and other related disciplines, together with thecomprehensive use of the methods for interdisciplinary and taxonomy research,thus it is concluded that SheHuo facial-makeup in Longzhou is the combinationof the collective stylized modeling pattern and the idea of subjective solipsism.The application of the interdisciplinary research methods is abeneficial attempt and bold innovation in the academic theory study andmethodology. At the same time, the research on the topic has an important academicvalue and practical significance for the protection and inheritance of theChinese folk culture traditions and the folk art attached to the former in orderfor them to carry forward our national spirit.
