Multiple Object Tracking (MOT) and Inattentional Blindness (IB) are commonphenomenon in our life, and also hotspot in psychology. MOT mainly investigatessubjects’ ability to note and track multiple objects at the same time, Yet IB means thatwhen one focus his(her) attention on a certain task, he(she) tends to ignore unexpectedobject. In this study, we will introduce unexpected-object with different moving patternto MOT paradigm in order to explore how movement pattern affect IB phenomenon. Also we design one experiment to investigate the effects of expectation to IB in casethat some subjects reflect that the appearance of unexpected object in exercises mayhelp them discover it. In Experiment1, the unexpected objects keep static in MOTtask, we record the detection rate of unexpected static objects. In Experiment2and3,we separately include regularly-moving unexpected objects and randomly-movingunexpected objects. It is noted that in all these three experiments there is noappearance of unexpected objects in the exercises. But in Experiment4, oneunexpected object is included in the second trial of three excercises in order toproduce expectation. Results of this study were shown that:(1)The detection rate of unexpected random-moving unexpected objects wassignificantly higher than static unexpected objects and regularly-moving unexpectedobjects. This result suggests that if the moving pattern of unexpected objects weremore similar to target objects, they may be detect more easily(2)There were no significant difference between the detection rate of staticunexpected objects and regularly-moving unexpected objects with no expectationexist, but significant difference if expectation exist. Expectation could effectivelyimprove the detection rate of regularly-moving unexpected objects.(3)In the condition of expectation-existing,it is also have the conclusion thatunexpected objects may be detect more easily if their moving pattern were moresimilar to target objects.
