College Students’ Basic Color Words Semantic Category And Priming Effect

Color word is the language used to describe things in the color words.Due to differentsocial and cultural background, even the same color, different people will have differentassociations and emotion orientation.More than previous studies from the Angle of the culture,or is the Angle of cross-cultural study of symbolic meanings of color words, from the Angleof psychology, the study of Chinese college students’ basic color words meaning categorywere rare.Therefore, this article selects the black, white, red, yellow, green, blue, brown,purple, pink, orange and gray11basic color words as the research object.Take the wordassociation test to construct the semantic category of Chinese college students the basic colorwords, and priming effect experiment on the testing.Using SPSS16.0to deal with the data, the results are as follows:Firstly，the basic colorwords semantic category of the Chinese college students.The semantic category of red mainlyincludes the national flag, blood and fire, sun, apple, roses, clothes, tomato, red light and hongniu; Black semantic category includes night, clothes, hair, blackboard, coal, the night sky, ink,underworld, death and "dirty";White semantic category, clothing, mainly including the whiteclouds, wall of snow, the doctor, paper, milk, day and mourning;Semantic category mainlyincludes the chrysanthemum yellow, banana, orange, the sun, sunflower, oranges, clothes,film, and the yellow leaves;Semantic category mainly includes the blue sky, the sea, schooluniforms, clothes, the navy and Lhasa;The semantic category of green mainly including grass,leaves, trees, keeping, forest, grass, grass, grasslands, green food and vegetables,Mainlyincludes the grape purple semantic category, eggplant, lavender, violets, flowers, laver,clothes, crystal violet, dazzle dance and rainbow;Semantic category mainly including brownbear, brown bark, Xiong Daxiong2, chocolate, coffee, soil, shoes, hair, eyes, and a tree;Pinksemantic category mainly including flowers, clothing, girls, pink peach blossom, skirts,memories, nurses, petals, underwear and lips;Orange main semantic category, includingorange, orange, orange, fruit juice, orange juice, Meinianda, lemon, fruits, drinks andGuolicheng;Semantic category mainly including Hui tailang, gray sky, cloudy day, cement,gray image, clothing, small gray, coffee, mood and gray income.Secondly,The representationof the semantic category in middle term significant main effect(p<0.01),Basic color words inthe category of righteousness exist priming effect, high representative of the word to corresponding basic color words start faster, semantic categories of semantic distance.Start thestimulation and target stimulation time distance SOA main effect isremarkable(p<0.001).Illustrates the start stimulating han words present time affectparticipants to target the naming of color words.Lenovo word semantic categoryrepresentative no significant interactions with SOA(p>0.05).Research conclusions:College students have basic color words in the category ofrighteousness priming effect, semantic categories of words have different representative, theirsemantic distance is different with the basic color words, to support the semantic categorytheory activated diffusion model and the prototype category theory.
