The method of modeling is the most important and direct factor for Ink FigurePainting (IFP). Along with the development of IFP, its core topic----model and soul havebecome the emphasized point in many painting theorist’s research. The art of modeling,being not only a way for visual demonstration but also the expression of national cultureincluding art spirit at different times, has profound cultural connotation and deposit.Combined with the background of different times and following the timeline, thisthesis focus on the method of modeling for IFP. By elaborating several typical painters andtheir works, the confrontations、conversions、mixtures between abstract and realisticmethod of modeling expression would be discussed. As the time changing and affected bythe regional and cultural differences, Chinese IFP are continuously developing and creatingits own modeling concept、character、mean. Based on the importation of western paintingin the last century and our own reform and improvement, contemporary Chinese IFPfeatured to be diverse and prosperous.
