The diamond patterns of indigenous people’s textiles are full of charming andaesthetic taste. They are classic symbols and expressive ways of indigenous people’s spiritsand thoughts, displaying strong characters of specific group and embodying enormousunited power and contagious effects. In order to find out the major characteristics andvalue of diamond patterns from indigenous people’s garments, this paper describes、analyzes and summarizes the diamond patterns in structure combination、color formation、assembling methods、hidden meaning、religious belief、future application after amounts ofrelated collection and categorization. The major methods are description and comparison.The classic diamond patterns are illustrated and categorized into catalogue by differentgroups. Through the experimental endeavor in silk painting, this paper finds the potentialapplication of diamond patterns in new mediums.
