This article focuses on how to visualize people’s sensation and how people feel aboutthis visualization.Sensation is the first step of acquiring information from the external world and from theinside. Our sensory organs perceive various kinds of irritant energy, transform them to neuralimpulses and transfer these impulses to the brain. This is how we feel. For example, our eyesand ears transform light stimulus and sound stimulus, separately, to neural impulse, but thentransfer the impulse to different part of the brain, which results in different sensation.Vision is a basic and major physiological and psychological phenomenon. For thephysiological part, it is a visual organ, the exemplification of our eyes’ function; for thepsychological part, vision performs the functions of perception, thinking, memory, emotion, forming visual cognition. The theory of visual thinking advocates that sensation and visionwork simultaneously and that vision is a special way of thinking and can not only choose andjudge but also integrate and organize. Thus, we can not simply conclude that vision isequivalent to the eye and its function. In our daily life, vision, hearing, touch, smell and taste communicate with one another. There are no specific boundaries between the function areas of the eye, ear, tongue, nose andbody. This is called synaesthesia or the same sense perception, which means a psychologicalphenomenon in which two of more kinds of sensory organs feel one single thing. It seems thecolor chills, the sound smiles, the temperature weighs and the smell occupies. In Tang andSong poetry and novels, authors often use synaesthesia to visualize the words and leave thereaders quite a lot of space to imagine. Whether you see a taste, see a sound, se a smell, oryou see the temperature, pains and pressure or even vision itself, you may consider it as a mixof reality and imagination, visualized sensation and a kind of art that can be presented byvisual means.
