Chinese oil painting has experienced from serving politics to the shift of focus on individual survival state, painting language is from the initial development to today’s diversified academic personality. After combing the development course of Chinese modern oil painting, try with the characters in the Chinese modern oil painting faces as the breakthrough point, to interpret the evolution course of Chinese contemporary oil painting in the face and the reasons.In the process of the development of the history of Chinese oil painting, the face is of special significance, especially from the tall, red light to all of the cultural revolution in the field of contemporary art in the development of diversified, face shape is the artist to express thoughts and feelings of a main carrier, is also the most likely to lead to focus on visual elements. Because of that person’s image, the vivid and intuitive, the audience familiar. Face is in contemporary China and its people’s survival circumstances, inner states of a project, after the artist’s personal interpretation, some taste of autumn. The purpose of this paper is to face centered in the contemporary oil painting history, gradually create the Chinese contemporary oil painting in the evolution of the characters’ faces, and through to the interpretation of the characters’ faces, also enables us to understand the structure of the Chinese contemporary art.
