| Ian McEwan is one of the best and most popular writers in the world. He hasbeen very concerned about the truth of the text. He has been trying to explore therelationship between the context in postmodern discourse and the truth. Starting fromthe novelâ€Atonementâ€, McEwan was turning into the inquiry of the relationshipbetween the context and the truth. In “Solarâ€, McEwan has done a deeper inquiry, andgot a further conclusion. That is, the fact that the truth in the postmodern discoursecannot be presented primitively has been true. But, this does not mean that truth doesnot exist or cannot be presented. In fact, the truth is processed and presented by all theprofessions. This is also the conclusion of this paper.Hereinafter, this paper will research in the context “Solar†from the prospectiveof postmodern discourse, for getting a clear understanding of the truth of postmoderndiscourse. The postmodern theory of the digestion of Mata narrative and hyper realitywill be adopted to do the research. Then, McEwan’s opinion on the truth ofpostmodern discourse will be proved. This paper consisted five parts. The first part,Introduction describes the background, plots, research actuality of the context “Solarâ€,as well as the purpose and significance of this paper. The content is divided into fourchapters. The first chapter sorts out the social and theoretical background ofpostmodern discourse, and sums up the main features of the postmodern discourse,the digestion of Mata narrative and hyper reality. The second chapter does a closeresearch in the context and the truth under the main features of the postmoderndiscourse. The thirds chapter based on the postmodern discourse features embodied inthe context, and pre-existing knowledge of postmodern discourse, explores the authorMcEwan’s opinion on the truth of postmodern discourse and his reflection in thecontext. The last part Conclusion gives a conclusion of this paper, and expands thereaders’ understanding of postmodern discourse from McEwan’s point of view. |
