According to the statistic report of China Internet development from CNNIC, up until the end of December2013, the total number of Chinese cyber citizen is618million. The31.2%of it is young adult (20-29years’old), which at the top of cyber citizen number of each age group. Social contact is one of main function of the Internet, it is caused wide concern by academic circle that online interaction and the effect of which to people.Self-disclosure is the process of individuals who tell the information on them-selves to the target. Self-disclosure is the bridge of individuals’interaction. As online interaction rapid development, researches on online self-disclosure emerged and develop rapidly. Self-awareness is the consciousness of the self. After the mid of last century, psychologist have found self-awareness, particularly private self-awareness is an important inner effect factor on self-disclosure. Now, the relation between self-awareness and online self-disclosure has been being concern by psychologists. But, there is rare research on the effect on online self-disclosure of self-awareness from the aspect of multiple dimension of online self-disclosure. As well as online self-disclosure has cultural difference. Thus, there is a certain significance to investigate the effect of self-awareness on Chinese young adults’SNS self-disclosure. In this study, we divided online self-disclosure to three dimensions:breadth, amount, and depth, and the content of online self-disclosure on QQ-zone is regarded as research target. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of self-awareness on Chinese undergraduates’SNS self-disclosure. There are two sub studies:Sub-study one:Interviewing undergraduates to know the general characteristics of online self-disclosure on QQ-zone. From the interview of10randomly selected undergraduates, we found general life event and emotion experience are two topics which are disclosed most.Sub-study two:Based on the result of sub study one. We filtered38undergraduates from268undergraduates whose questionnaire is effective. The filter criterion is the up-40%and low-40%of the public and private self-awareness score. And we made up four groups:high public and high private self-awareness group; high public-low private self-awareness group; low public-high private self-awareness group and low public and low private self-awareness group. We collected38undergraduates’online self-disclosure information from their QQ-zone after approving. Double-blind was selected to assess the breadth, amount, and depth of the self-disclosure content. Results of2X2ANCOVA revealed that, after control offline self-disclosure and extraversion, there is an interaction of public self-awareness and private self-awareness on the breadth of online self-disclosure, but the main effect is non-significant; the effect of self-awareness on the amount of online self-disclosure is non-significant; the main effect of public and private self-awareness on the depth of online self-awareness is significant, but no interaction.At last we analysis and discuss the limitation and the research design in future.
