Study On The Jades In Early And Middle Stage Of Western Zhou Dynasty Excavated From The Ying State Cemetery In Pingdingshan

In this thesis,archaeology methodologies are used to research the jades excavated from the Ying State Cemetery in Early and Middle stage of Western Zhou Dynasty to analyze the System of Using jades of the Ying State in Ear ly and Middle stage of Western Zhou Dynasty,which are on the basis of the complete report--"the Ying State Cemetery in Pingdingshan I".The paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,introduce the background,research methods,the brief introduction of the Ying State Cemetery and overview the research of the history of the Ying State.The second chapter briefly describes the jades unearthed cases. Chapter three and chapter four are the main parts of the paper,the third chapter classify all of the jades,refer to the Reportjades excavated from the Ying State Cemetery are classified for four categories.in the categories.each jade will be again classified according its function and use. By analyzing and researching the characteristics of time,social classes,gender and region, the System of Using jades of the Ying State Cemetery in Early and Middle stage of Western Zhou Dynasty can be concluded. In the fourth chapter, in modality and combination,the ceremony jades, the ornamented jades and the funeral jades inherited and changed from the Early Western Zhou to the Mid-Western Zhou.In social class,the upper classes buried rich, exquisite jades;while the second classes’jades are inferior and the third classes even some tombs buried without jade. In the aspect of gender,the ceremony jades buried more in mate tombs than female tombs,while the ornamented jades are preference in female tombs.In comparison of other tombs of Western Zhou,there are no big diference in them.The fifth chapter is the conclusion, jades style and the System of Using jades of the Ying State Cemetery are in accord with the whole Western Zhou Dynasty.
