Research On Wang Yuchen’s Concept Of Ancient Prose And Essay Creation

Wang Yucheng is a poet of Bai Style and an essayist in the Northern Song Dynasty.He follo wed and inherited from Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan’s literary spirit, and was eager to replace antithesi s in last generation with straightforward prose style. Both in terms of literary theory and creative practice, he pioneered the literature reform movement in the Northern Song Dynasty.Noble litera ry spirit he had made him incorporated it into poems creation and thus contributed initially to lite rary spirits of the Song Dynasty. Correct retro attitude and his learning and creation paved the w ay for later generations. Not only his literary view is more reasonable than Liu Kai’s, but also his writing level is far higher than the latter’s.He had firm Confucianism thought and regarded peolp e-oriented thought as the guiding ideology of his writing. He had attic faith that the revival of Co nfucianism and literary innovation should interact. Wang appealed for political reform constantly and treated literary reform as a part of political reform.In the past thirty years,the academic circl e has researched deeply on Wang Yucheng’s life, thought,poetry theory and characteristics, and a chieved fruitful results.As a literati,Wang Yucheng’s intelligent talent and profound Confucianis m thought nutured his rich literary wisdom, meanwhile as a politician,his rich life experiences an d three relegating experiences moulded his grittiness and dauntless expostulation. However,due t o life-span, personality, temperament, political conditions and other reasons, the reform moveme nt lauched and oriented by Wang Yucheng failed to success.But Wang Yuchen, as a literary inn ovation movement pioneer in the Northern Song Dynasty, laid a very soild foundation for later g enerations’s follow-up and inheritance.Based on it, classical prose movements lauched by Su Shi, Ou Yangxiu and others were booming and moving to a new climax.
