John Service was an important figure in the history of sino-American relations.Since1936, to be formally appointed as a diplomat, with its keen insight and objectiveand pragmatic work attitude, become active in the diplomatic arena young talent, the U.S.diplomatic community worthy of the name "China hands". By about twenty to fortyyears of the20th century,John Service wrote many reports about the real situation inChina for the United States government, proposed many insightful comments, he urgedthe United States to intervene in China’s internal affairs, modification and enthusiasm forthe Chinese Democratic efforts, especially, in particular, he suggested that thecooperation with the Chinese Communists. Although not been adopted by the U.S.government, but history has proved his point of view is forward-looking and conform tothe long-term interests of the United States. Service also because these reports into "theUnited States of America lost China the scapegoat", by McCarthyism persecution,Service did not change his mind and stick to his point of view. This paper aims to studythe life of Service and his reports during the Second World War, not only can enrich theresearch contents of the Communist Party of China, and the prediction for the futureprospects of the study in twentieth Century thirty or forty years of Sino-US relations,Sino-US relations have a profound lesson.
