The Study On Identities In The System Of Regional Ethnic Autonomy In China

China is a modern state which composed by many ethnic groups. The report of the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out the need of fully implementing the Party’s policies concerning ethnic groups and improving the system of regional ethnic autonomy. Although China’s governing experience in ethnic minority areas proved that the system of regional ethnic autonomy is rational, it is not comprehensive to stay at the point of view of the national system and the statute as ethnic issue itself is extremely complex and within certain of dynamic changes. In addition of factors include adjustments of political relations, social transformation and sabotage by hostile forces both inside and outside China, it is also necessary to govern from the angle of ethnical consciousness, ethnic identity and national identity. The attribute of approval from national identity and belonging from ethnical identity do not only establish the identity of the state and make the nation-state have huge cohesion, but also respect the rights of ethnic minorities and culture diversity, which have positive effects on the nation’s reunification and ethnical stability.This paper generally introduces the historical development and core content of the system of regional ethnic autonomy, describes the tenet of Marxism based on ethnic groups and the theory of the pattern of diversity in unity of the Chinese nation. At the same time,"seek common ground while reserving differences" as the attribute of identity of the system of regional ethnic autonomy has been analyzed in-depth. Based on the experiences of ethnic policies’identity issues in the former Soviet Union, the United State of America and India, this paper focuses on countermeasures which might solve the identity issues in the system of regional ethnic autonomy in China and put those in deep discussions. During the implementation of the system of regional ethnic autonomy, it is necessary to establish the priority of national identity in multiple identities, correctly handle the relationship between national identity and ethnic identity, innovate and improve the form of organization, intensify the reform of economical development in ethnic minority areas, plan the infrastructure and urban construction legitimately, enhance talent selection and training systems and effectively protect and promote ethnic culture.
