The plugins of online games comes up with online games. With thedevelopment of the internet, various disputes caused by the plugins ofonline games are increasing these days. The infringement act of theonline games plugins has attracted a high attention from the judicial circleand academic circle. This article is from the research topic issued byShanghai High People’s Court as well as the main tender subject in2012.The author will study the issue of responsibility for infringement actcaused by the online games plugins. Hopefully, it will be benefit forjudicial practice and theory study.Besides the introduction and conclusion, this thesis consists of fourparts as follows.Chapter one: Operation principle for online games and pluginsThis part illustrates the operation of the online games and somerelated principles for plugins operation. It explains and analyzes thedefinition, classification and operation principles of the plugins in orderto make a base for the following part which deals with the infringementtechnically. Chapter two: Legal relationship involved in pluginsThis part discusses the legal relationship between the online gamedevelopers and plugin developers, the online game operators and plugindevelopers, the online game operators and the plugin players. Byanalyzing the relationships, it proves the existence of infringement act.Chapter three: Responsibility for infringement act caused by theonline games pluginsIt proposes the study on responsibility for infringement act byclassifying the current laws and regulations, illustrating the views aboutthe legal issue on plugins, analyzing different acts of plugins as well asjudging the related laws, regulations and some judicial practices.Chapter four: Burden of proof and extent of compensationThis part aims to guide the judicial practices by analyzing the burdenof proof from the plugin infringements and proposing some remedialmeasures for the damages caused by the infringements.
