The active faults means the fault had occurred activities movement since Late Quaternary. It is important significance to research the activity of fault for Earthquake prediction and disaster prevention, the engineering stability and seismic safety evaluation and Modern geodynamics. This thesis explored the activity of Weixi-Qiaohou fault in Weishan basin, as the goal. Guided by satellite images, geological maps, topographic maps and lots of information, combined with the nearly four months of fieldwork collected data obtained, We got some new understanding of the fault activities, the era of the latest activities and slip rate of the fault in Weishan basin:1. Since Late Pleistocene, Weixi-Qiaohou fault was normal faulting nature-based, supplemented by strike-slip properties.Weishan basin was a rift basin formed by Weixi-Qiaohou fault,it formed in the Pliocene, the fault had significant activity in Late Pleistocene.2. Fracture in Weishan basin was divided into two branch faults,All the branch was clearly reflected in the Satellite imagery. The fault landforms mainly concentrated on the area of west branch. The fault landforms was not clear appeared in the area of east branch.3. The activites era of the fault was late Quaternary in Weishan basin, and no dislocation Holocene evidence. The fault vertical slip rate was0.6mm/a in Weishan basin. Horizontal slip rate of east branch was0.3mm-1.0mm/a,the average results was0.6mm/a. Horizontal slip rate of west branch was0.2-1.0mm/a,the average results was0.6mm/a.4.Based on the researching results of Weishan area.I believe that although there was different nature between Weixi-Qiaohou fault and Red River fault in Weishan basin, Weixi-Qiaohou fault is an extension of the North West to the Red River fault, north intersected at Jinsha fracture, constitute the South-West boundary of the Sichuan-Yunnan block.
