With the development of social economy, the number of Vehicle increases sharply. One of the hot topics in the public is how to effectively monitor vehicles. Vehicle Monitoring System can effectively monitor vehicles, which includes the computer, satellite navigation and wireless telecommunication technology. Nowadays, Vehicle monitoring system mainly rely on America’s GPS navigation system. With the comprehensive promotion of beidou satellite navigation system in our country, development of vehicle monitoring system based on beidou satellite navigation has great application prospect. This essay designs Vehicle Monitoring System which is based on Beidou positioning, and on this basis, makes an research and design on map matching method.The main tasks of this essay are as follows:It makes a research on the basic principles of Satellite navigation technology, GIS technology and GPRS technology. It analyzes the functional requirements of vehicle terminal, remote server system, and monitor client. According to the system’s design requirements, objectives and principles, it generates an overall design plan.With Atmega128processor serving as the control chip, Beidou Satellite Receiver Module, SIM300GPRS Telecommunication Module and peripheral circuits are extended externally. It completes the circuit design of vehicle terminal system.It designs the functions of the vehicle terminal positioning and telecommunication and comes into being in AVR STUDIO development environment.It aims at the remote monitoring for vehicle terminal and finishes the remote monitoring center design, consisting of central server design, data base design and monitoring client design. Making use of data base technology, socket technology, and GIS technology, it designs and realizes the telecommunication functions of remote monitoring center, GIS functions and remote control functions.It aims at map matching algorithm on the effciency and accuracy of defects, combined with characteristics of electronic map and vehicle traffic, producing improved map matching algorithm which is based on comprehensive fuzzy evaluation. Under the road terrain features, it verifys the reliability of the improved algorithm and realizes in the actual system.
