The Nonlinear optical crystal is an important pillar of the development in many fields.Such as the solid-state laser technology, infrared technology, optical communication technology and signal processing technology. Nonlinear optical crystal is playing an increasingly important role in scientific research, industry, transportation and national defense, health care and so on.This paper focus on the new ternary system of A2O/MO (A=alkali metal, M=alkaline earth metal), ZnO/MoO3and HIO3/HIO4to explore new nonlinear optical crystal materials of iodate. Four novel compounds have been prepared by hydrothermal reactions, including LiZnO(IO3), NaZnO(IO3), Eu(IO3)3, SrMo6I2O24-H2O. And the LiZnO(IO3) belongs to the NLO material. Single-crystal X-ray intensity data were collected on an automated Brucker Smart APEX CCD four-circle diffractometer using monochromatized Mo Ka radiation. The crystal structures were solved by the SHELX-97software, and physical properties of these compounds were investigated.LiZnO(IO3) has been prepared by hydrothermal reactions at200℃. The compound crystallizes in a noncentrosymmetric orthorhombic space group Ama2with cell parameters:a~6.3386(6) A, b=11.2613(11) A, c=4.6840(5) A, Z=4. In the structure, the basic building units are the distorted ZnO6octahedron, LiO4tetrahedron and the IO3group, which are linked together to form a three-dimensional structure by sharing the oxygen atoms. The DSC measurement demonstrates that the compound is stable up to490℃. Powder second-harmonic generation (SHG) test shows that the SHG effect is about2×KH2PO4.Eu(IO3)3was prepared by hydrothermal reactions. The compound crystallizes in space group P21/n (No.14) with cell parameters:a=6.3386(6) A, b=11.2613(11) A, c=4.6840(5) A, V=334.35(6) A3, Z=4. EuO9polyhedrons forming a one-dimensional chain structure By sharing edges. The chain structure and the IO3group are linked together to form a layered structure by sharing the oxygen atoms. The adjacent layers are held together via the1-O bonds resulting in the three-dimensional framework.SrMo6I2O24·H2O was prepared by hydrothermal reactions. The compound crystallizes in space group C2/c with cell parameters:a=13.420(3) A, b=7.4153(15)A, c=20.252(4)A, V=1909.7(7) A3, β=108.64(3), Z=18. MoO6polyhedrons and the IO4group are linked together to forming a2D layer. The adjacent layers are held together via the SrO6group resulting in the three-dimensional framework. The DSC measurement demonstrates that the compound is stable up to497℃.
