With the increasing size of the city, urban city networks and urban architecture complexity are increasing, in order to facilitate information management and urban public service and with the digital city and even smart cities can only build, high-precision mass scalability measurement model of the building is necessary. In the previous study, there have been a variety of modeling methods, but for automotive laser point cloud data modeling is not entirely applicable, which will be included for the feature occlusion caused by difficult to fill the gap resulting point cloud architecture lack of large-scale surface problems, and build complex topology triangulation visual effect is not ideal. This paper presents an approach based on octree point cloud automatic modeling algorithms, by integrating the inertial navigation unit (IMU), GPS receivers, and laser scanner data obtained, combined with the existing city map information, using the acquired vehicle laser point cloud data and the corresponding algorithm, to obtain a range of building models.This vehicle combines laser measurement systems and mobile access to data characteristics, after considering the design of the algorithm, the algorithm is different from the previous advantages as follows:1. on the topological analysis of the relationship data reconstruction to get the corners of the building with the key points of information, and thus do not need to have massive point the laser is applied to all data modeling.2. determine the conditions for the use of special, due to the building caused unobstructed surface to fill vacancies can play a role.3. The final judgment by a special condition on the huge amounts of data redundancy in the data, excluding merger, and thus having a small footprint, highly efficient data storage.This article as long as the design of a bounding box octree based algorithms for vehicle laser point cloud modeling, through the algorithm, re-organization has gained massive laser point cloud data, and ultimately achieve their buildings modeled. And with the results of other algorithms and compared to point out the strengths and areas for improvement can be.
