Optical Bistability In The Micro-ring Structure

Nonlinear optics is a branch of optics, Optical Bistability(OB) is an important partof nonlinear optical phenomena. At the same time, there are a lot of specificapplication in bistable, but for micro ring resonator, there are few researches aboutOptical Bistable in it, however, micro ring resonator has the advantages of compactstructure, small volume, easy integration and so on. So study optical bistability in themicro ring resonance cavity is vary necessary.The spectral and power(I/O)bistable characteristics of active micro ring(MR)structures are analyzed theoretically in this paper, the theoretical formulation is based onthe rate equation under the assumption of z-independent, and the optical poweraccounting for amplified spontaneous emission. The analysis is performed for MRscharacteristics on the performance are explored, and to explore the effect of theresonator cavity parameters on bistable, and study on the effect of bistabilitycharacteristics of I/O power below threshold current.
