Scandium is a kind of rare earth elements which has semblable character with the nearby aluminum and titanium on periodic table of elements. Its compound and alloy have a series of unique properties, so scandium has widely used in aluminum alloy industry, scandium sodium lamp and laser materials etc. It must have a widespread application prospect in defense industry and high-tech fields and has attracted much attention at home and abroad material field.A large independent scandium deposit was found in Yunnna province for the first time, this discovery has enriched the scandium resources in our country and filled a gap of scandium in Yunnan province.The scandium ore had two existing forms, which some existed in hornblende as isomorphism and others existed in metamorphic clay as ion adsorption. So the development and utilization of this scandium resource must have a positive stimulating role for the hi-tech development and industrial adjustment of our province.This paper has chosen a weathered associated scandium ore as the object of study. The researches of process mineralogy shows that the content of valuable element-scandium in the raw ore is70.21g/t, it exits in hornblende with isomorphous form and montmorillonite, chlorite with ion adsorption form.According to the nature of the ore, the process flow which predefined desliming-iron benefication in low intensity magnetic separation-scandium enrichment in high intensity magnetic separation-cleaning operation in shaking table has been determined. Meanwhile it had obtained the scandium concentrate with83.3g/t Sc2O3content and83.87%recovery.The leaching experiments in hydrochloric acid with cosolvent were conducted after the obtained scandium concentrate was milled to-0.015mm. The leaching rate of88.45%was obtained under the conditions, which it was leached in100℃for12h with3:1liquid-soild ratio and the dosage of B cosolvent was6%.Then, the leaching liquid was conducted extraction purification experimtnt. When the extraction agent was made up by5%P507and95%kerosene, extraction rate of98.39%was obtained under the3:10ratio of organic phase to water phase. The elution rate of scandium was only0.61%after three lavations which the detergent was made up by88%concentrated hydrochloric acid and12%hydrogen peroxide. The reextraction rate of98.19%was obtationed under the2:(0.5+0.08) of organic phase to water phase, which the reextraction agent was made up by84%2.5mol/l NaOH and16%absolute ethyl alcohol.
