The design and synthesis of interesting structures and excellent chemical properties of the metal complexes have always been a hot topic in the research of coordination chemistry. In recent years, chemists found that these complexes as functional materials have potential applications in catalysis, gas separation and storage, optical sensors, magnetic molecular recognition and energy sources. N(S, O)-containing and other heteroatom of organic ligands are commonly used for the study of coordination chemistry, they are widely used in the field of biology, catalysis, organic synthesis and chemical analysis, etc. And the copper has lower coordination numbers, not only can coordinate with a variety of organic ligands but also have good biological properties, magnetic properties and catalytic performance. Therefore, we synthesized15kinds of copper complexes, and a series of characterizations were conducted. The main contents are described as follows:(1) Seven Schiff bases ligands have been synthesized by condensation of2-Pyridinecarboxaldehyde with o-phenylendiamine, p-phenylendiamine, m-phenylendiamine,4,4’-diaminobiphenyl, p-nitroaniline,2-aminobenzothiazole and2-aminobenzimidazole. They are all characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Among them, we got the crystal of ligand2and its crystal structure was characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction.(2) Seven copper complexes were synthesized by seven Schiff bases ligands with copper iodide under the solvothermal condition. We got the crystal structure of complex1and the rest of six complexes had got their power. They are all characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, respectively. Their thermal stabilities and catalytic properties were researched.(3) In addition, the other eight copper complexes(8-15) were synthesized by five N, O, or S-containing heterocyclic ligands with copper iodide under the solvothermal condition or volatilize slowly at room temperature, and the crystal structures were determinated by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The eight complexes were characterized by XRD, elemental analysis, and IR, respectively. Part of them were characterized by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Their thermal stabilities and catalytic properties were researched. The results show that the copper complexes have good thermal stability, complexes5and11show better catalytic activity under the reaction of Phenylboronic Acid with Iodobenzene. Complex1and10have novel structures in the crystal structures. Among them, complex1is a new mixed valence tetranuclear Cu(Ⅰ, Ⅱ) complex and complex10is a2D coordination polymer which is made by ligand DDTC connected Cu(Ⅱ) and Cu5I5cluster.
