Five-axis NC machining technology is the main processing method ofcomplex parts. Of three axes, five axis machining has a lot of advantages, suchas expanding the processing scope, improving the machining accuracy. So theapplication of five-axis machining technology is becoming more and morewidely.Spiral bevel gear is one of the important parts, which is used in the cars,machine tools and metallurgy, mining machinery and so on. At present, thespiral bevel gear processing generally adopts two methods: general machine toolprocessing and CNC machine tool processing. But the machining scope of twokinds of machine tools is limited, plus the service life of the knife dish is limited,for some special specifications, special processing incomplete tooth orapplication of the spiral bevel gear on special occasions, not on the generalmachine tools and CNC machine tool processing. So how to use five axis NCmachine tools, universal implementation of arc tooth wimble gear highefficiency, high precision, low processing cost become an important topic.Based on spiral bevel gear as the research object, this paper deeply studiedthe geometric modeling of spiral bevel gear, and drawed the geometrical modelof spiral bevel gear under the environment of Solidworks. In five-axis NCmachining as a research starting point, this paper introduced the five axis NCmachining process and HyperMILL five-axis machining technology, studied thespiral bevel gear of five-axis machining tool path strategy and setting of processparameters, and generated spiral bevel gear cutter path trajectory under theenvironment of HyperMILL, and postd processing to generate NC code, finallysimulated arc tooth wimble gear processing results in HyperVIEW environment.
